AGE GROUP REGISTRATION UPDATE

U.S. Youth Soccer, US Club Soccer and the Association Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) announced a major update to age group formation that will take effect beginning with the 2026–27 seasonal year. This change moves away from the current calendar-year (January–December) model and returns to a seasonal-year (August–July) model for age grouping.

  • Starting with the 2026-27 season, youth soccer will move from the current calendar-year model to a school calendar-year (August-July) model for age grouping.

    Previous Registration : Birth year (January 1 - December 31)
    Current Registration: Seasonal year (August 1 - July 31)

  • The main reasons include:

    Better alignment with school-grade peers for social and developmental benefits

    Increased inclusivity and participation opportunities

    Unified approach across major youth soccer organizations

  • We recognize this change may create some challenges, one of which is the potential for conflicting uniform numbers. We will not require any player to purchase a new uniform. Referees may require each player have a unique number, which will be remedied on a game-by-game basis with athletic tape.

    When our uniform cycle completes after the 2026-2027 seasonal year, we will coordinate with families to ensure there are no jersey number conflicts for future years.
